Eagles Position Grades After Dominating Rams 37-20 in LA

INGLEWOOD, Calif. — The Eagles cruised to a 37-20 victory over the Rams, behind another dominant rushing performance and a solid defensive effort. With their seventh consecutive win, they are on a roll heading into Week 13 of the 2024 season. Here's how each position group performed at SoFi Stadium:

Quarterback: Jalen Hurts
15/22, 179 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT; 12 carries, 39 yards

Jalen Hurts didn't need to do much through the air in this one, but he played a clean and effective game, avoiding turnovers. With DeVonta Smith sidelined, Hurts leaned on A.J. Brown, who caught 6 of his 15 completions. Hurts also picked up key yards with his legs, maintaining offensive balance.

Grade: B+

Running Back: Saquon Barkley
26 carries, 255 yards, 2 TDs; 4 catches, 47 yards

Saquon Barkley was absolutely electric, finishing with 302 scrimmage yards. He set a new Eagles' single-game rushing record, surpassing LeSean McCoy’s 217-yard performance. Barkley’s performance has him firmly in the MVP conversation. Kenny Gainwell also chipped in with 5 carries for 22 yards and a touchdown, adding depth to the backfield.

Receiver: A.J. Brown
6 catches on 7 targets, 109 yards, 1 TD

With DeVonta Smith out, A.J. Brown saw an increased workload, and he delivered with a strong 109 yards and a touchdown. He was especially dangerous after the catch, and while he could have seen more targets, his efficiency and big-play ability made up for it. Jahan Dotson also caught one pass for 4 yards.

Grade: B+

Tight End: Dallas Goedert
4 catches on 5 targets, 19 yards

Dallas Goedert wasn't heavily involved in the passing game but was solid in his blocking role. The Eagles' tight ends, including Grant Calcaterra and C.J. Uzomah, helped pave the way for the team’s massive ground game. Their blocking was key in the team’s 300-yard rushing effort.

Grade: B+

Offensive Line

The offensive line was dominant, creating massive running lanes for Barkley. Their push up front allowed the Eagles to rush for over 200 yards for the fourth time in seven games during their winning streak. In pass protection, they gave Hurts plenty of time, with just one sack allowed in the first half.

Grade: A+

Defensive Line: Milton Williams
2 sacks, 3 QB hits, 2 TFLs, 1 FF

Milton Williams stepped up in a big way, recording his first career two-sack game. With Jalen Carter being double-teamed all game, Williams capitalized on one-on-one opportunities. Josh Sweat and Brandon Graham each added a sack, and Graham contributed with 3 QB hits and 2 TFLs. Sadly, Graham suffered a season-ending triceps injury.

Grade: A-

Linebacker: Nakobe Dean
8 tackles, 1 sack, 2 TFLs, 1 FR

Nakobe Dean was all over the field, recording a timely sack and two tackles for loss. His ability to play downhill and finish plays was impressive, while Zack Baun had a quieter night with just three tackles. Dean’s play was a highlight of an otherwise solid linebacker performance.

Grade: A

Secondary: Cooper DeJean
6 tackles, 2 PBUs

The secondary faced a tough challenge against Matthew Stafford and Puka Nacua, who totaled 117 yards. Despite two questionable DPI calls, the Eagles' secondary limited big plays. Cooper DeJean was especially active, breaking up key passes. Darius Slay left with a concussion and was replaced by Isaiah Rodgers, who saw significant action.

Grade: B+

Special Teams: Jake Elliott
3/3 FGs, 4/4 PATs

After a rough outing the previous week, Jake Elliott bounced back with a perfect performance, nailing all of his field goals and extra points. Braden Mann had one 54-yard punt, and Britain Covey had a quiet day as a punt returner, recording one 8-yard return.

Coaching: Nick Sirianni
Record: 9-2

The Eagles’ coaching staff continued to push all the right buttons. Vic Fangio’s defense adjusted well after allowing 117 yards in the first quarter, holding the Rams to -6 yards in the second. Kellen Moore stuck with the run game, which paid off in the second half. The only blemish was a poor sequence late in the first half, which could have been better managed.

Overall Team Grade: A

The Eagles played a nearly flawless game, controlling the clock with their powerful running game and stifling the Rams’ offense with relentless defensive pressure. It was a complete performance that showcased both individual brilliance and team chemistry. As they head into Week 13, they continue to look like one of the NFC's most dangerous teams.
